Tail wagging scottish terrier brooch by Marie-Christine Pavone. Raoul is cut,
polished and painted by hand from translucent grayish brown galalith that is
painted with straigh lines of green and blue iridescent paint resembling and
shining like the colors of a peacock. The straight lines give Raoul a chic
tweedlike appearance. Handpainted eye, nose and yellow/red collar. Raoul
measures 3 1/8" nose to tail and 1 3/4" high (inc. tail). Slab is appr. 3/16"
thick. Signed by hand at the back. Excellent unworn condition.

Next to the wonderful iridiscent effect the marbling gives, it makes the
colors very susceptible to the color of light shining on it, bright in the
daylight, dark outside the light, yellower in the artificial light at night etc.

lucite. Galalith is the most used material in the creation of Pavone jewelry.
Galalith is made from the casein of milk hence its name, "gala" (milk) and
lithos (stone). Discovered at the end of the 19th century, it is the ancestor
of plastics. The work of galalith is similar to woodworking for cutting and
sanding but also requires different impregnating and polishing phases to give
it a shiny and deep iridescent silky appearance. Galalith has the immense
posibilities of being colored in an infinite palette of bright or soft hues,
light or dark. Each item is entirely handmade and requires up to three weeks of
work for its realization. The magic Marie-Christine puts into her galalith
items, the liveliness it brings is her trademark, they cannot be mistaken.
The creation of Pavone jewels began more than twenty years ago, trends and
